Permits for drive-in theaters during an epidemic emergency

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, we receive many questions regarding obtaining permits for the use of radio frequencies for the so-called drive-in theatres , where the sound of the movie displayed is available in car radio receivers, and its transmission uses the frequency of the FM band.

Please be informed that in order to use radio spectrum resources for such cultural events, it is necessary to obtain a decision of the President of UKE, authorizing the temporary use of a radio device ensuring the occasional transmission of information for a period not exceeding 30 days (in accordance with Article 144a of the Telecommmunications Law).

All detailed information regarding the submission of applications for decisions permitting the use of frequencies intended for the broadcasting service (radio and television) is available in the UKE’s Public Information Bulletin.
