On 22 September 2026, Mr Karol Krzywicki, Deputy President of UKE, met with Dr Bilel Jamoussi, Deputy Director of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB). 

During the meeting, the scope of the ITU’s standardisation work was discussed, with particular emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI). ITU is very active in this area; it co-organises the annual AI for Good Global Summit, promotes the use of AI and trains its staff on how to utilize it. ITU has also drawn up a Code of Conduct for the Use of AI. Mr Karol Krzywicki presented plans for the use of artificial intelligence in the work of UKE, particularly in the implementation of new tasks of the President of UKE, concerning, for example, digital services.

Deputy Director of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau also presented new initiatives in the field of AI, including the AI Skills Coalition, which was launched last year. This is a new training platform developed by the ITU in collaboration with other international organisations, NGOs and IT companies. The platform offers training in artificial intelligence, certification and capacity-building for decision-makers, IT specialists and organisational leaders, and addresses the skills gap with a particular focus on groups with limited access to education and marginalised groups.

Discussions also covered two joint initiatives by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) and the UPU (Universal Postal Union): the first one concerning digital financial services and the second one ‘the Global Initiative on Resilience to Natural Hazards through AI Solutions’, aimed at addressing natural disasters.

The meeting provided an opportunity to become acquainted with the current ITU’s and UKE’s work on the use of AI. This information will be used for further internal analysis and to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
