Karol Krzywicki elected BEREC Vice-Chair for 2027
01 October 2026
Karol Krzywicki, Deputy President of UKE, has been elected Vice-Chair of BEREC for 2027. He will take up this role at a time of significant technological and regulatory changes that will shape the future of the European communications and digital services market.
The Digital Services Act (DSA), the Data Act, the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) and the forthcoming Digital Networks Act (DNA) are changing the operating conditions of the market and the remit of regulators. The presence of a representative of UKE on the BEREC Mini-Board is of particular importance to Poland at this time. It enables the experience of the Polish market to be brought to the European debate and allows for participation in the development of common solutions.
Karol Krzywicki has been associated with the telecommunications and postal market regulator for over 20 years. He has represented UKE at BEREC plenary meetings and in the cooperation between regulators of the Eastern Partnership countries within the framework of EaPeReg. He has many years’ experience in international regulatory cooperation and in the development of regulations and regulatory tools. His appointment is a recognition of the knowledge and experience he brings to the work of European regulators.
Karol Krzywicki will serve on the BEREC Mini-Board in 2027 along with the following NRA representatives:
- Alejandra de Iturriaga Gandini – Director for the Telecommunications and Audiovisual Sector at CNMC (Spain) as BEREC Chair 2027
- Michel Van Bellinghen – Chairman of the BIPT Council (Belgium) as BEREC Vice-Chair elected for BEREC Chair in 2028
- Marko Mismas – Director of AKOS (Slovenia) as BEREC Vice-Chair and BEREC Chair 2026
- Klaus Steinmaurer – Managing Director of the Telecommunications and Postal Services Division at RTR (Austria)
- Armer Juka - member of the Steering Board of AKEP (Albania) as the representative of participants without voting rights.
BEREC, the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications, supports the development of the European communications market and the consistent application of EU legislation. It assists the European Commission and national regulators in implementing the regulatory framework, advises EU institutions and complements, at European level, the actions taken by national regulators.
The reports, opinions and guidelines prepared by BEREC address issues of importance to users and businesses: the development of fixed and wireless networks, the open internet, roaming, users’ rights, as well as cybersecurity and network resilience. BEREC also deals with market analysis, digital markets and sustainability.
Tasks relating to DNA are set to feature prominently in the 2027 Work Programme. The role of data in regulation is also gaining in importance. One of BEREC’s projects aims to support the coordination and effective collection of information on digital markets, in order to better identify changes taking place within them and make decisions based on reliable analyses.
The participation of Karol Krzywicki in the BEREC Mini-Board offers the opportunity to contribute to this work at a time when decisions are being made that are crucial for network development, market competitiveness and user protection in Poland and across the European Union.
We warmly congratulate on the election as BEREC Vice-Chair and wish every success in fulfilling this responsible role and carrying out tasks for the benefit of the European electronic communications market.
