24 February 2020
On 20 and 21 February 2020, the first regional workshop of EaPeReg and the World Bank on broadband infrastructure mapping took place at the headquarters of the Office of Electronic Communications.
The aim of the workshop, organized for representatives of the Eastern Partnership countries, was the transfer of knowledge about the methodology of broadband infrastructure mapping and collecting information on telecommunications services. Experts from UKE, the Main Office of Geodesy and Cartography and Orange Polska discussed in detail the mapping process, starting from the legal framework and the type of reported data on infrastructure and services to specific tools for processing the collected information and ways of developing it.
As part of the workshop, bilateral meetings were also held between representatives of individual Eastern Partnership countries with experts from the World Bank and UKE. They were aimed at conducting detailed discussions on broadband infrastructure mapping and establishing the principles of further cooperation on the creation of these methodologies and tools.
The workshop was attended by representatives of six Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, chair and co-chair of one of the three expert working groups of EaPeReg – Independent Regulators and Broadband Expert Working Group (IRB EWG) and representatives of the World Bank and the Portuguese regulator ANACOM.
