Public consultations of the European Commission regarding the quality of 5G

Public consultations of the European Commission regarding the quality of 5G

The European Commission has launched public consultations on the methodology for mapping the quality of 5G services.

The consultations will last until June 27 and consist of two parts:

• a questionnaire with questions regarding key aspects of the methodology, in which the Commission is seeking feedback from stakeholders on specific issues

• a draft methodology for mapping the quality of 5G services

The consultations are primarily aimed at telecommunications operators (MNOs), national regulatory authorities/BEREC, and companies providing spectrum planning tools, but also at other stakeholders (e.g., consumer associations, user groups, the general public). After the consultations, the Commission will update the draft methodology, and then, in cooperation with BEREC, large-scale tests involving all member states are planned, with commencement scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.
