Measurement Campaign for Car Chargers

Measurement Campaign for Car Chargers

Car chargers have become an essential piece of equipment in many vehicles. They keep mobile devices ready while driving, but are they all compliant with the requirements? Compliance of these devices with the requirements has a significant impact on their use, that is why, considering the increasing popularity and the growing number of models available on the market, the President of UKE decided to conduct a measurement campaign covering this category of products.

First, the formal requirements were verified, and it was checked whether for each device:

1. The manufacturer issued a declaration of conformity,
2. A user manual is included,
3. The product bears the CE conformity mark,
4. The manufacturer and importer provided their contact information on the product or its packaging,
5. The product bears identification information.
6. It was checked whether information about any restrictions on the use of the product was included.

Then, to verify whether they meet the specified requirements, these products were tested at the Central Laboratory for Technical Testing. The results confirmed that all charger models inspected during the campaign complied with relevant technical requirements.

In total, the UKE inspection teams examined 10 product models, of which 6 met both the formal and technical requirements.

As a result of the intervention by the President of UKE, in the case of three inspected device models, the audited entities corrected the formal discrepancies, and one device model was withdrawn from the market and disposed of.
