European Commission consultations on the Digital Connectivity Act
10 June 2025
The European Commission has published an invitation for comments on ways to eliminate barriers to cross-border business activity, stimulate innovation, and increase investment in the European electronic communications sector.
The initiative aims to improve access to safe, fast, and reliable connectivity in order to transition to cloud-based infrastructure and artificial intelligence, and to encourage investments in digital infrastructure.
This initiative is based on the Commission's white paper: "How to Meet Europe's Digital Infrastructure Needs?" adopted on February 21, 2024.
Comments submitted during the consultation will be taken into account by the Commission in the preparation of the Digital Networks Act (DNA), which is expected to be adopted by the end of 2025.
Along with the review of the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC), the Digital Networks Act will enable the simplification and further harmonization and modernization of current regulations. This will enhance competitiveness and contribute to greater integration of the single market.
The consultations will last until July 11 of this year.
