Day Two of the Global Symposium for Regulators, with the participation of the Deputy President of UKE
18 May 2026
On May 14, the second day of the Global Symposium for Regulators, discussion sessions were held on innovative regulatory approaches.
During the panels, participants considered how regulations might evolve to ensure readiness for the upcoming challenges of the digital age, and how to anticipate the development of a sector driven by artificial intelligence (AI) in order to prepare for the wave of new technologies (6G, space technologies, and quantum technologies). Discussions also covered how forward-looking and data-driven regulations can support the development of new technologies while managing associated risks, and what role regulators should play in supporting data collection and promoting transparency, accountability, and consumer empowerment in decision-making processes within the AI and new technologies environment.
Karol Krzywicki, Deputy President of UKE, participated in a session dedicated to innovative and experimental regulatory approaches. In his address, he focused on the need for high-quality data that can be used to support the development of advanced data warehousing and analytics platforms. New technologies, such as big data tools, predictive analytics, and artificial intelligence, can streamline the automated analysis of reported data, thereby helping to better monitor the market and consumer issues. Linking regulatory datasets with other public registries can increase transparency and enable stakeholders from other sectors to participate in joint initiatives. Karol Krzywicki also addressed a question regarding the challenges and risks associated with the use of AI-driven predictive analytics in regulatory processes. In his view, the development of AI enables faster data analysis, but issues related to the accuracy and quality of the results obtained must be taken into account. In Poland, the abundance of market players makes it complex to manage standardisation and the processing of data sources. Nevertheless, reliable and consistent data underpin the effective regulatory action and sound decision-making.
The Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-26), organized annually by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), takes place from May 13 to 15, 2026.
