Digital Services Act

This EU regulation came into force throughout the European Union on February 17, 2024. Its aim is to create a safe and transparent online environment for all users, both individuals and businesses. The overarching goal of the DSA is to counter the spread of illegal content, combat disinformation, and eliminate systemic abuse. The regulation does not interfere with legally published content or restrict freedom of speech.

The DSA serves to increase the transparency of digital platforms and strengthen users' rights, giving them greater control over the content presented to them, while fully respecting the legal exchange of information.

Each EU Member State is required to designate a national authority responsible for supervising the application of the DSA provisions – the Digital Services Coordinator.

The Coordinator plays a key role in enforcing the regulation – it monitors the activities of intermediary service providers, considers user complaints, and cooperateswith other European regulators and the European Commission.

In Poland, the President of the Office of Electronic Communications has been appointed as the Digital Services Coordinator.
